1:7 – More Direct — Ask a Question
Scripture Text: Song of Solomon 1:7
verse 7
So she tries a different way.
She asks a question – it is harder to not respond to a question.
She is asking where he will be during the midday break.
Many cultures take a longer break mid day than we do.
Some times it is because of the heat, other times it is for a nap.
I think he is slow to answer so she continues.
Why should I be like a veiled woman – a prostitute?
She isn’t saying she would be one, but she is saying that she could be wandering around among the guys looking like she was available.
The guys would feel comfortable in making crude or sexually oriented comments or would feel free to ask her to be with them since she seems to be looking for someone to have a good time with.
The next passage is Song of Solomon 1:8.
