2:11-13 – He Takes the Lead in an Alternative to Sex
Scripture Text: Song of Solomon 2:11-13
It is spring time.
He seems to be fascinated with the fruit forming, the blossoms, the flowers appearing again after winter.
He asks her to come a second and third time.
A point to consider: If he had been embracing, groping, or fondling her in the last chapter, why wouldn’t he be asking her to let him come inside where he could do more of this?
• He could have been too dumb to know that she is hot for him.
• He could have been afraid of expanding their physical relationship because he wasn’t confident.
• He could have not been interested in sex with a girl.
All of those are possible in this situation, but as we continue through the Song, it is obvious that none of these is true for him.
The next passage is Song of Solomon 2:14-15.
