3:1-5 – And She Thinks He is Really Hot
Scripture Text: Song of Solomon 3:1-5
verses 1-5
She is alone.
She is in love with him and wants to be with him.
She is thinking and dreaming of him all night long.
Then in the morning she gets up and goes to look for him.
She encounters the watchmen – like our police.
She asks if they have seen her.
They seem to pretty much ignore her.
Later she has a different type of encounter with the watchmen.
Now, she finds him and brings him to her mother’s house.
See Experience: American Dating Pattern
She gives this warning again in verse five:
Swear an oath, you won’t arouse love before it is ready to awaken.
Unless she is saying do as I say, but not as I do, then they still haven’t had sex.
The section on the wedding is coming up.
Look at it and see if you think she has had sex up to this point.
This would be a good time to go to My Conclusions (coming soon).
Check out what I’ve come up with.
You don’t have to agree with me.
But you don’t have to agree with the current dating pattern in America either.
Think, read, pray, discuss, rework your opinions until you have a plan for how to handle the process of going from single to being together.
If you just let it happen, if you resign yourself to fate, Fate will accept your resignation and you will be spending much of your time saying: If I only knew then what I know now.
Or, can’t I have do overs like when I played four square in first grade?
The next passage is Song of Solomon 3:6-11.
