The Play — He comes back

May 11, 2012 By dschenk Leave a Comment

Grandpa

While they were looking for him he shows up.  He doesn’t wait for her to say anything.  He starts right in with this:

Chapter 6 verses 4-11

You are beautiful my darling as Tirzah, lovely as Jerusalem, majestic as troops with banners.  Turn your eyes from me, they overwhelm me.  Your hair is like a flock of goats descending from Gilead.  your teeth are like a flock of sheep coming up from the washing.  Each has its twin, not one of them is alone.  Your temples behind your veil are like the halves of a pomegranate.

Some time while he was talking the friends showed up.  But it didn’t matter, because he was on a roll.  He continued,

Sixty queens thee may be, and eighty concubines, and virgins beyond number, but my dove, my perfect one is unique, the only daughter of her mother, the favorite of the one who bore her.  The maidens saw her and called her blessed; the queens and concubines praised her.

Solomon quotes them as saying,

Who is this that appears like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, majestic as the stars in procession?

Then Solomon gives an explanation about where we has.  It didn’t make a lot of sense.

I went down to the grove of nut trees to look at the new growth in the valley, to see if the vines had dubbed or the pomegranates were in bloom.  Before I realized it, by desire set me among the royal chariots of my people.

Kind of a strange speech, but he was working hard to make up with her.  They were both glad to be getting back together.  She was ready to accept what he was saying and they started walking off together.

The friends called after them,

Come back, come back, O Shulammite; come back, come back, that we may gaze on you.

Solomon turns back  and says to them

Why would you gaze on the Shulammite as on the dance of Mahanaim?

We don’t know what it is that he is talking about, but he is ready to be alone with her and they keep walking away until they are off somewhere by themselves.

Girl

That was a very strange explanation that he gave about where he had been.

Grandpa

Yes it was.  He had gone off mad and didn’t know what to do or where to go.  It seems that he didn’t do anything stupid and when he cooled down he went and found her.  It isn’t always what someone says, but the way the say it and the meaning behind it.  They have survived through the fight.  Next they figure out how to make up with each other.

Why I Am Doing This

I have information that is valuable for people who are making decisions about sex, love, romance, marriage and relationships. Admittedly, sharing on these topics is not something I have been eager to do. But it is the right thing to do, so here I go jumping in with both feet. More about us.
