The Play — Here he comes

Shulammite

2.7  I want you to promise me, O young women of Jerusalem,

by the gazelles and by the does of the field,

not to arouse, not to awaken love until love pleases to awaken.

GP

They are starting to ‘fall in love’ to narrow their focus to each other, to become a couple.  We now join her where she is alone in her bedroom as she shares her thoughts with us.

  Shulammite

Sitting on her bed where she can see a window with some kind of lattice

2.8  The voice of my beloved!  Behold!  He comes, leaping over the mountains,

bounding over the hills.

9  My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag.

Behold!  He is standing behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice.

10.  My beloved responded and said to me, “Arise, my darling companion, my beautiful one: come away.

11  For behold, the winter has passed.  The rain is over and gone.

12  The blossoms have appeared in the land.  The time of singing has come,

and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.

13  The fig tree ripens in figs, and the vines in blossom give off fragrance.

Arise, my darling companion, my beautiful one: come away.

14  O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places of the cliff,

let me see your form;  let me hear your voice; for your voice is pleasing and your form is lovely.

2.15 Let us catch the foxes, the little foxes who ruin vineyards, because your vineyards are in blossom.

GP

See how passionate he is about spring time.  It is a great time for his vineyards and groves of trees as they start to bud and produce fruit.  Notice what else he is doing.  He is saying No, not now, wait.  He is doing very carefully.  She is laying around at home.  She is certainly thinking about being more physical with him.  And he carefully steers the conversation to the beauty of springtime and going up into the mountains where he can see her face or her form and hear her voice.  Guys have to use tact when they are holding back physically.

Girl

Would a guy really do that?

GP

Some would.  If a guy is willing to take the risk, and to wait, he can end up with a great marriage.  Of course guys that are gay, and guys that are afraid would also seem like they are waiting.

Girl

This sure gets complicated.

GP

Maybe not as complicated as it is hard to do.

Why I Am Doing This

I have information that is valuable for people who are making decisions about sex, love, romance, marriage and relationships. Admittedly, sharing on these topics is not something I have been eager to do. But it is the right thing to do, so here I go jumping in with both feet. More about us.
