by the gazelles and by the does of the field,

not to arouse, not to awaken love until love pleases to awaken.

Verse 7

I want you to  promise me, O young women of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and by the does of the field, not to arouse, not to awaken love until love pleases to awaken. GLK

In the previous verse she is talking about being faint with love.  Is she now saying, Do what I say, not what I do.  This isn’t good for you, but it is all right if I do it?

No, I don’t thing that is what she is saying.  I think she is becoming very excited mentally and she is trying to hold herself back physically and mentally.  She is giving the girls a warning that she is also giving to herself.  Watch out.  It is easy to get excited and jump into the physical and emotional pool of love.  It is way harder to reverse that and get out.

Why I Am Doing This

I have information that is valuable for people who are making decisions about sex, love, romance, marriage and relationships. Admittedly, sharing on these topics is not something I have been eager to do. But it is the right thing to do, so here I go jumping in with both feet. More about us.
