Chapter 8
verses 9-10
We have a young sister, and her breasts are not yet grown. What shall we do for our sister for the day she is spoken for?
(29) p 278 Ezek 16:7 names the development of the breasts and the growth of pubic hair as signs of puberty (when the girl became eligible for marriage). Young women were often married between ages 12 and 14. It was though unseemly to wait too long.
If she is a wall, we will build towers of silver on her.
If she is a door, we will enclose her with panels of cedar.
(the five megalith) p. 31 a door revolves on it s hinges; one knocks and it is opened. If their sister yielded to temptation they will punish her with solitary confinement for her self-protection. To prevent a door from being broken into, it was barricaded with cedar planks, that wood being exceptionally hard.
